Pagan-Celtic Lakes
The lake goddess is a phenomena in Celtic mythology. Lakes are windows to the Otherworld and are said to be immersed with the divine power of a goddess. Apples, too, are seen as a means to immortality. The following prints in the series 'Lake Goddess with Apples' uses water as a backdrop/flat plane, from which apples seem to suspend and emerge from an unknown realm, alluring and reminding the viewer of another world that awaits.
''Lake Goddess with Apples I-V'' is a series of prints designed for Heritage Week Ireland 2020.
